Monday, Feb 3rd (5:30pm Networking | 6-7:30pm Program)
During this session we’ll have a lively discussion about:
– Resilience research: what we know now!
– Measuring resilience using the Resilience at Work Questionnaire!
– Practical applications in organizations/ case studies!
This program helps OD leaders to:
– Dive into a new tool that measures and identifies 15 resilience attributes
– Connect personally and engage in dialog about their own “bounce back” ability
– Discuss case studies and applications for measuring and developing resilience, including rapid change, M&A, or traumatic events.
We all face challenges in our work lives; from the personal (my family is counting on me to support them, I’ve got health issues that are impacting my work, I’m concerned about my career), to the team (we’ve reorganized and people aren’t clear about their roles anymore, people are working hard and demoralized because our stock price is down, absenteeism is hurting our productivity), to the organization (we’re downsizing, we’ve been acquired, we’re having to shift priorities during tough times, or even we’re growing and haven’t seen this volume before).
Research shows it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you respond to what’s happened to you. Resilient leaders are those who adapt, change, deal well with ambiguity and take challenges as opportunities to re-invent themselves. Resilient organizations are the same. Leading a resilient organization takes courage, focus, and the ability to engage followers in following a purposeful path that may change in an instant. Karlin Sloan has conducted original research on resilience and leadership, and speaks to what we known now about cultivating our ability to bounce back from change or challenge.! !
